Autun

Gallo-Roman city in the heart of Burgundy

Autun was the capital of the Aedui, the Celtic Gauls. After being conquered by the Romans, the city was called Augustodunum.

Today Autun is a city of art and history.

To visit Autun is to rediscover Ancient history with its two-thousand-year-old monuments: Roman theatre, Janus temple, Arroux and Saint-André gates, ramparts, Pierre de Couhard.

The majestic Saint-Lazare cathedral shelters under its Gothic spire the remarkable carved tympanum "of the Last Judgment". After a city walk past all the monuments, you can relax on one of the terraces in the city centre.

At the Croix de la Liberation you have a panoramic view of the city and the Morvan, but you can also play golf or practice water sports on the Plan d'eau du Vallon... Autun also offers many activities in the summer.

Contact the tourist office for more information on current events.

Bibracte

Gaulish town in the Morvan

At the top of Mont Beuvray and in the heart of the Morvan forest, Bibracte is gradually emerging from oblivion.

Witness to the great events of Gallo-Roman history, the city of Eduen offers you an incredible space of discovery labeled "Grand Site de France": a 100% natural environment, ruins as far as the eye can see, excavations, a state-of-the-art museum, view to the Alps and good Gallic cuisine.

A delight for culture and nature lovers!
